APSA BPERP CERTIFICATION
Using a controller and simulation you will complete the APSA-NIST BPERP CERTIFICATE
APSA BPERP
The APSA Virtual Basic Proficiency Evaluation for Remote Pilots (Virtual BPERP) emulates the widely used in-person Basic Proficiency Evaluation for Remote Pilots (BPERP) currently being administered by over 450 APSA trained proctors. The Virtual BPERP provides the added advantage of utilization of a remote proctor, eliminating the need to locate a local proctor, and permitting certification in all weather conditions. You will receive a BPERP Certification upon completion and approval. The BPERP provides a robust solution to the absence of a practical skills evaluation in the Federal Aviation Administration’s Remote Pilot Certificate process. The combination of completing the requirements for the FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (merely a written exam, online application, and TSA background investigation) AND biennially completing the Virtual BPERP/BPERP and FAA Remote Pilot Refresher Course, is an excellent way of ensuring sUAS pilot knowledge AND practical skills competency. Instructions: Upon purchase of the Virtual BPERP Certification through Zephyr, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions that walk you through how to record your Virtual BPERP Certification attempt and submit it for review. You will be granted a 30 day license to the Virtual BPERP Zephyr scenario. You have 30 days to practice and then record and submit your attempt to be reviewed by a proctor. Each Virtual BPERP subscription is limited to one certification attempt submission. Subscriptions are non-refundable and cannot be extended beyond the initial 30 day window. Requirements: This certification requires the user to: (a) have a camera capable of streaming video; (b) prove their identity; (c) record their screen during Virtual BPERP certification attempt; (d) upload their video recording; (e) share their recording via a cloud storage system (for example: DropBox, Google Drive, YouTube, Vimeo, etc.)
LUV's APSA Basic Proficiency Evaluation for Remote Pilot (BPERP) Certification course covers elements beyond the Federal Aviation Administration for the Airborne Public Safety Association (APSA).
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has put together a standardized test method to guide public safety agencies with a comprehensive set of skills and abilities related to job functions while using a UAS in public safety missions.
This course is designed to prepare the student for APSA certification using the NIST Basic Proficiency Evaluation for Remote Pilots (BPERP) test lane.
The NIST BPERP test lane was designed to quantitatively evaluate remote pilot proficiency by focusing on Safety, Capabilities, and Proficiency.
The NIST BPERP test lane used in this course can be used to quantitatively evaluate remote pilot proficiency. NIST is working for all of the test lanes to be standardized through the ASTM International Standards Committee on Homeland Security Applications; Response Robots (E54.09).
These test methods are primarily intended for vertical takeoff and landing systems with an onboard camera and remote pilot display.
This course is broken down into 4 module sections and online simulator.
Module 1: Administrative components.
Module 2: Aeronautical knowledge via interactive presentations.
Module 3: APSA BPERP Virtual Practical Flight Assessment.
Module 4: Final Exam & Wrap-Up
